Vintage Jewelry

My grandmother is really good at collecting things.  Not like you can't walk around in her house, but every closet a drawer is full of sequined jackets, purses, shoes, and hats.  She also has a wonderful drawer of jewelry.  Now it's not all diamonds and pearls, but she does have some fun pieces that she has collected from traveling over the years.  At my last visit to her house, I creeped into her jewelry drawer and found these pretty things.  After saying "Ahh this is pretty" and "Do you ever wear this?"  my grandmother said "Just take it, you can have it!" Thanks Grammer!

Review: Macadamia Deep Repair Masque

I ran out of my It's a 10 Miracle Hair Mask, which I loved, a few months ago and have been looking for a new one ever since.  I could have just repurchased It's a 10, but I like to try new things.  I had heard good things about this hair mask and with a $5 coupon at ULTA it sounded like a good deal to me.  I used it for the first time today and I loved it.  I left it in my hair for 7 minutes after shampooing (as instructed) and then rinsed it out.  It left my hair very soft and manageable. It smells pretty nice as well and there is alot in there.  A little goes a long way!  Start at the ends and work it up to your roots with the majority at the ends.  I spent $15 on this mask, which I think is worth it for the amount that you get.

Wicked Weekend

My 100 Things is going to have to wait until next week.  I have been busy with school and I was out of town this weekend.  I just haven't had the time to write down my 10 things for this week.

I do have a small post to share about my weekend though :)...

This weekend I got to see Wicked for the first time.  After hearing from several of my friends that this was going to be the best show ever, and that I would loooovvee it, I did, it was great and if you get the chance to go and see it you should!

Krafts With Katie

Since I am all about the bling, I thought I would share with you my latest obsession.  Over the top blinged out DIY phone cases!  I first came across this idea when I found Lux Addiction.  They sell dazzeled phone cases for around $80, but I am going to show you how to make your own for under $30!  These cases range from gems and rhinestones, flowers and bows.  You can get these things from your local craft store, but I have found that there are many sellers online that sell all types of little things to add to your phone.  I purchased my items from a seller at Etsy

WHAT YOU WILL NEED.

1. A CLEAR PHONE CASE (THAT FITS YOUR PHONE)

2. CRAFT GLUE (E-6000 IS THE BEST)

3. A TOOTHPICK OR HAIR PIN AND STICKY TACK.

4. A PAPER PLATE TO SET YOUR GLUE ON (IT GETS MESSY)

5. AND OF COURSE ALL OF YOUR BLING TO ADD TO YOUR PHONE!

First lay out all of your big peices and decide where you want everything to go before you start gluing!  Try to leave the spots for the larger items clear of gems.  You want to glue the larger items right onto the phone case.  They will stick better, rather than gluing them on top of the gems.

Start at the bottom and work your way up, it seems to work the best.  Lay out your gems with the flat backs down, this will make them easier to grab.  Now here is where the toothpick and sticky tack come into play.  Apply a piece of sticky tack to the end of your toothpick or hair pin.  This is going to be your magic tool to applying the gems to your phone (Picture bellow) Use the tacky end to pick up the gems and place them onto the area with glue.  The glue doesn't dry super fast so you have time to move the gems around if you mess up.

After you have applied all of your bling, let it dry overnight.  This is strong glue, so let it sit and set.

Here are the two that I have made so far.
This one above is just a back case, the pink case has a front and back.  You can do any kind of case that you want!
And that is basically it!  It's super simple, and rather cheap if you buy from the right places.  I haven't spent more than $30 tops on both cases.  It takes about 600 small gems to cover one phone case give or take, just FYI.  I get asked about them all the time.  So make your own originalcase and your phone will be on everyone's "want" list!

Hope you enjoyed it!

100 Things: Part Five

I'm sorry that my last post was 100 Things, I have been busy for the past week, and haven't had much to show you.  I am finishing up a DIY project which I will have up in a couple of days :)  So let's get to the next ten things shall we?!

31. Baking
I realize that there is at least one food item in every posts haha, but I enjoy baking, and it makes me happy when everyone likes what I bake.  I don't always need to eat what I make, I just want everyone else to enjoy it.

31. Animals
I live out in the country, so I see cows and horses on every corner.  I love all animals, and I want to hold them all.

33. Banana Pudding
Again food haha.  My grandmother makes me and my sister banana pudding every time we come to visit.  It is one of my all time favorites for sure.

34. Bluebonnets
I can't explain the smell of fresh bluebonnets.  It is so sweet.  You can roll your windows down in your car while driving past a field, and you can smell them.  They are beautiful.

35. Getting Free Stuff
We all like getting free stuff right?  If it is a t-shirt you catch at a basketball game, or gift bag from a party.  It's always fun to get something free.

36. Birthdays
I think everyong likes their own birthdays, but I enjoy celebrating friends and family's birthdays as well.  It brings everyone together, and there are free gifts for the birthday girl :)

37. Smoothies
I am addicted to these smoothie drinks call Odwalla.  I get them at my local grocery store.  They are packed with fruits and veggies and really give me energy, and help me get through the day.  Go get one!

38. My Big Family
My mom is one of seven kids in her family, and there is nothing I love more than 25+ people in one small house, loud and crowded.  I wouldn't change it for anything.

39.Rain
I don't like having to walk across campus in it, but I do love watching it, and listening to it.  The smell after a rain storm is one of my favorites.  It smells so refreshing.

40. Compliments
Now I might not be the best person to take a compliment, but it is still nice to get them.  I know how it makes me feel to hear something nice, so I try my best to do the same to others.
